Nic Pizzolatto é criador, roteirista, produtor executivo e showrunner da série da HBO True Detective. Como escritor, teve trabalhos publicados nas revistas The Atlantic, The Oxford American, The Missouri Review, Ploughshares, Best American Mystery Stories, entre outras. Lançou a coletânea de contos Between Here and the Yellow Sea e foi um dos finalistas do National Magazine Award. Galveston, seu primeiro romance, foi finalista do Edgar Award e venceu o Prix du Premier Roman Étranger da Academia Francesa e o Spur Award. Pizzolatto mora na Califórnia com a esposa e a filha.
